Christmas 2009

Christmas specials from Playlist.com
*** Gather your loved ones, huddle by the fire, and have a listen to our "Old Time Holiday" playlist. It's packed with some of the most enduring holiday classics from the likes of Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Burl Ives, and many many more. It's the perfect music for your family Christmas party or for just filling your heart with the holiday spirit. Have a listen! A Classic set of Christmas songs.

*** If you happen to like a little less Bing Crosby and a little more Mariah Carey in your Christmas music, then "Pop Goes Christmas" is for you. With contemporary holiday hits from Owl City, Madonna, Britney Spears, and many more, these songs will add a little pop to your Yuletide.
*** The Stunners wrote, "Santa Bring My Soldier Home" as their gift to the brave men and women serving our country this holiday season. To commemorate the occasion, they've also created "Missing You," a playlist of songs for those who we wish were closer to us. Have a listen.

Jack's SNZ-Pangasinan-Baguio Tour

Ride started in San Narciso Zambales. Through Olongapo up to Bataan, pass Tarlac to Mangatarem Pangasinan where we spent the night. Got up the next morning and rode to Bugallon for their Fiesta. Crit race around Bugallon Plaza, then off to La Union, up Marcos Highway to Baguio City. Overnight stay at the Dangwa Tranco bus station then down Kennon Road to Manaog for another overnight stay. From Manaoag to SNZ was like a race against time and I bonked on the last uphill leading back to Olongapo. I was pretty much in a touring mode from 'gapo to SNZ on the way home since there's nothing left in the tank.
PS
Pic shows those big knee scrapes from my "semplang" a week before this epic ride.

Save the Philippine Eagle

I though this eagle is gone as in "no more" but I am happy to stumble on this website through FaceBook that some of the birds still exist. Philippine Eagle Foundation Official Website with their programs.
Here is another link that is really interesting. Philippine Eagle Biology and Ecology with slide show.

Fishing Hot Spot north of San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge

Fishing Hot Spot north of SF GGB

You should make it there at first light (around 5:45 - 6:00 a.m. DST). During low tide is best from 5:30 - 11:00 for the smelt and mackerel. Crabbing should be good mid morning on.
The way you get there is to go up highway 101 north, to the golden gate bridge and exit Alexander Drive (first exit past the vista point). Make a right on Alexander drive, then first left on Danes Drive , then first right on Bunker Road . Go all the way down the hill to the stop sign. Make a right at the stop sign and you'll see the coast guard boats and pier.
Bring regular market shrimp, anything sized 50-60 and smaller. You'll also need floats/bobbers, size 6 hooks (3 on a line) and a two ounce weight.

Sequoia 2009 route

GMap 2009 Sequoia Metric Century route
Total mileage is 109km with about 2000 meters of climbing.
Using the Nag on this ride was a mistake and I kept on wishing on the carbon Calfee or the Spectrum Ti since those two have more gears to tackle the Bay Area hills plus they are lighter than the Nag. With all that climbing, I was struggling on those inclines but the downhill part was sweet. Maximum speed was 42.6 on twitchy Apline and Kings Mountain.

Dystonia

Got to post this since I kept forgetting what is Dystonia.
Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder in which sustained muscle contractions cause twisting and repetitive movements or abnormal postures. The disorder may be inherited or caused by other factors such as birth-related or other physical trauma, infection, poisoning (e.g. lead poisoning) or reaction to drugs.

Dystonia Medical Research Foundation.

and here is Jess Villanueva's story about Lubag, a form of dystonia that occurs in about one of every 4,000 men in the southern part of the Philippines. It may be misdiagnosed as Parkinson's disease or essential tremor.

My Garage

is actually on the right side of the pic.
NEWS clip from the local Argus newspaper

It would have been a disaster if the fire was able to jump over the rooftops. The heat from the fire was so intense it melted all the plastic bins between the two structures. I tried spraying my garage roof with the garden hose but there were explosions coming from the fire I have to run out plus the cop was saying the little pops might be something else he didn't want me to go near my house.

The fire did not even touch the car on the left but the heat was so intense it melted the front of the car and its interior. So much damage to my neighbors house but luckily no one was seriously hurt.
