I tried building this bike with full Shimano Dura Ace AX gruppo but I was limiting the build to 6 speeds only since the AX group is an indexed 6 speed and no matter how good your friction shifting is, the rear deraileur would index into one of those 6 grooves of the RD. Since this is a 1988 Paramount with Shimano dropouts, I decided to go with Dura Ace 7410 stuff. Although the 8 speed DA was officially released in 1989, prototypes of the DA 8 were used in the 1988 Giro D'Italia.
The highlight of this project is probably the rare SP-7410 black Dura Ace seatpost and the Dura Ace handlebar and stem with hidden bolts.

Sorry Charles, not for sale :)
My maiden ride with this bike was on Sierra Road last February's AToC 2008 and it was really sweet.
